Community Shops and Services

The peaceful town of Pennington, New Jersey offers a large number of everyday services that our students can easily reach within walking distance.

Boarding school students will find that they can do their banking, fill a prescription, get a haircut, do some shopping, or dine at a number of local stores and restaurants. If you are considering where to board your child, we highly encourage you to take area conveniences that can be reached on foot into account--having a village just a block away encourages participation in spontaneous group outings and helps eliminate some of the away-from-home feelings some new boarding students might have.

Within just two blocks of The Pennington School are several banks, four hair salons, a barber shop, a dry cleaner, florists, three ice-cream shops, a dozen restaurants, two pharmacies, a hardware store, and several clothing and gift retailers. There is also a large supermarket less than five minutes away on foot.

Local churches within walking distance include Pennington Baptist Church, Pennington Methodist Church, Pennington Presbyterian Church, St. James Roman Catholic Church, and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Har Sinai synagogue is a five-minute drive from campus.
