As a new member of the Upper School, your freshman year is fairly
well prescribed with required courses. For the most part, we group
students heterogeneously in their classes. Based on the 8th- grade
transcript, teacher recommendation, and department chair approval,
you may be eligible for honors sections in English, biology, and
world history. Placement in math and foreign language is based on
your previous level and achievement in 8th grade.

You have some flexibility in deciding what quarter-long courses you
would like to take (i.e., religion, health, arts, technology, etc.).
Keep in mind the graduation requirements when selecting these courses
to round out your schedule. You may "test" out of the introductory
technology course, making you eligible to take a more advanced tech
course. Please consult with the Director of Technology for this consideration.

Finally, you may find it helpful to map out tentatively what you might
take for all four years in the Upper School. This process is not binding;
however, it may help you see the big picture of your high school career
and help you plan the best course of action to achieve your goals. |
