Energetic. Social. Curious. Interesting.
Challenging. Growing.
Middle School students are a unique group of young people who bring
excitement and energy to the classroom. The Pennington Middle School
is a safe place where these students can develop as individuals,
build on their strengths, work to improve where necessary, make
friends in a community diverse in age and national origin, and feel
accepted no matter what their interests. To provide this nurturing
environment, the Middle School has its own faculty, activities,
and athletics; it is a school within a school.

Nevertheless, the Middle School plays a vital role in The Pennington
School community. Middle School students interact with their Upper
School peers on a regular basis in Junior Proctor groups, in the
Student Center, during lunch, and in the dorms. Middle Schoolers
contribute to chapel services, the literary magazine, arts presentations,
and community service projects. The spirit of our Middle School
students permeates the Pennington campus, helping to create the
sense of welcome and industry that is what makes Pennington such
an exceptional place in which to learn and grow.
