The Pennington School seeks to enroll students of good character and demonstrated citizenship who enjoy being part of a community that welcomes and encourages the participation of each of its members. Students should have strong academic ability and should be seeking to build a record of personal achievements appropriate for college admission.

The Pennington School has two types of application forms. International applicants are those students who are not U.S. citizens or are U.S. citizens who are living abroad. Domestic applicants are U.S. citizens who reside in the United States.

Applicants must complete the following process in order to be considered for admission to The Pennington School:

  1. Obtain the current viewbook, course guide, and application by completing the online inquiry form, emailing the Admissions Office at admiss@pennington.org, or calling the Admissions Office at (609) 737-6128.

  2. Submit the Student Data form and Preliminary Health Statement with the appropriate application fee ($75 for international students and $50 for domestic students) as soon as you decide you want to apply to Pennington.

  3. Interview on campus before the February 1 deadline date. International applicants are not required to complete an interview if they are unable to travel to campus.

  4. Complete the application forms. Parents should complete the Required Parent Questionnaire (domestic applicants only), and students should complete the Interests and Activities Sheet. Please give the recommendation forms to the student's current math and English teachers, as well as the Guidance Counselor, Principal, or Head of School (domestic applicants only). Complete the transcript request form and submit it to the applicant's current school so that records and testing can be released after the first marking period. All parts of the application are due by February 1.

  5. Take the SSAT or SLEP. All domestic applicants are required to take the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) and should call the SSAT Board at (609) 683-4440 for test dates and locations. You can also register online at http://www.ssat.org/. Pennington's school code is 5734. In order for your scores to meet the February 1 deadline date, you should register for a test date no later than mid-January.
International students for whom English is not the native language must take the Secondary Level English Proficiency Test (SLEP) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). For more information about the SLEP test, contact ETS at slep@ets.org or by calling (609) 771-7206.

  6. If you intend to apply for financial aid, be sure to check the appropriate place on the Student Data form (domestic applicants only). Financial aid forms will be sent to you in November. When you have completed them, file them with the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) no later than February 1.
