I usually get up about 6:30, so I have time
to shower, do some work, and
not have to rush.
|
 |

I head down to breakfast in the Dining Hall to eat, hang
out with friends,
and chat.
|
 |

I head for homeroom, where Ms. Chanley reads the daily
announcements
so I know what's happening for the day and what's coming
up.
She is my homeroom teacher and my advisor, so we can talk
about any academic problems I have and she can give me
direction about what to do. |

The dining hall has so many
great choices! |

 |
|
 |

My first period class is US History II; it's one of my
favorite subjects, so I pay attention, take notes, and
take part in the discussion or debate. |
 |

I have Health class as my quarter course. I like Mr. Ritter
a lot and find the
class interesting. We saw a video last week about childbirth. |
 |

Three days a week we have a break of 30 minutes when I
can hang out
with friends in the Student Center, buy a bagel and cream
cheese, see a
teacher for extra help, or take a walk around campus. |
 |

My favorite class is physics, even though it's my hardest
class. Mr.
Popowski is a really good teacher, and he teaches even
complicated theory
in ways that help us understand it. I especially enjoy
the labs. |
 |

After third period, I walk with Kathy to the Dining Hall
for lunch. We usually review the day, chit chat, have
a salad or sandwich and drink. |
 |

ESL Writing Seminar focuses on writing in preparation
for college. I
speak English well, but this class has really helped me
improve my skills in writing English. We read articles
and write essays, and Mr. Chase allows us to develop writing
assignments from other classes. |
 |

Latin II is difficult because it's my third language.
It's useful, though,
because even though it's an ancient language, it has a
connection to English, and I can learn many words by learning
the roots. It's also helped me improve my grammar. |
|
 |

I have Mr. Hutnik for English, my favorite class after
physics. We've been reading Utopian literature and discussing
people's ideas on what Utopia is and whether it's worth
going to war over; it's been a controversial subject in
American history. |
 |

Algebra II is a good class; Ms. Williams is really nice
and friendly, and, if we have a question, she explains
patiently until we understand and learn the concept. |
 |

At the end of the day, I often go for extra help, usually
for physics, English, or Latin. I like to do this on a
regular basis so that I'm not rushed for help just before
tests. |
 |

I have a lead role as one of the narrators in the winter
musical, so after
school I go to rehearsal for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Coat. Ms. Houston directs all our plays in the Upper School,
and she is a great drama teacher, advisor, and a good
friend. She gets really involved with the whole cast,
so we're like a family during rehearsals and the show.
|
 |

I usually go down to dinner about 5:30, though I don't
spend much time
there once I eat. Before Study Hall starts at 7:30, I
sometimes take a nap, relax, go online, or start homework. |
 |

Study Hall lasts for two hours; I am a hall proctor on
Green Hall, so my job is to tell the girls when it's time
to go to their rooms, to calm them down so they can start
their homework. If they have questions about homework,
they can ask me, the hall parents, or other girls on the
hall. Sometimes I go to the library to study physics with
a friend who's a National Honor Society tutor. |
 |

 |
 |
Study hall is a busy time in the dorms. |
 |
|
 |
 |
|
 |

If I don't go to the Student Center for something to eat
at break, I usually call home to Taiwan, watch a little
TV, take a shower, and help the girls settle down for
lights when they return at the end of break at 10:00,
and then get into bed for lights out at 10:30. |
