My dad drops my brother and me off on his way to work.
My brother is in seventh grade, and we head for Stainton
Hall. I talk to my friends before school starts. |
 |

There are two sixth-grade teachers. Ms. Munsterteiger
teaches English and history, and Ms. Barrall teaches math
and science. I have homeroom with Ms. Barrall. She reads
the announcements and then we have time to talk. It's
a good time to get focused on the day. |
|
 |

I go to Ms. Munsterteiger for first period for English.
We read a lot of books, work on writing, and study grammar. |
 |

Next I have history, where we're studying ancient Africa,
China, Egypt, and Mesopotamia this year. Sometimes the
books we read for English tie in to what we are studying
in history, which makes everything seem more real. |
 |

Sixth-graders mostly stay in one area during the day,
but I change classrooms for Latin with Mr. Beckford. We're
learning Latin language and culture, about Rome and the
empire. We also study mythology. It's interesting. Next
year I will start switching classrooms for all my classes.
I am looking forward to that. |
 |

Fourth period changes every day. Some days I have writing
lab, and other days I have study hall. On Fridays, the
sixth grade has a Town Meeting, where we talk about issues,
accomplishments, concerns, and do community service. |
 |

After I eat lunch, I go to the Student Center with André,
Sean, and Tyler and play Foosball. If I have to buy supplies
for class, I can go to the bookstore there. |
 |

I have math with Ms. Barrall during sixth period, and
then science with her also. Science is one of my favorite
subjects, and I especially like the experiments we do
in class. |
 |

At the end of the day we have exploratory classes like
Art-o-Rama, health, music, computer, library, and ethics.
Each class lasts half a quarter or a whole quarter. Art-o-Rama
is fun because we work with both the art and drama teachers
together. |
 |

After school there are activities. In the winter, I am
on the Middle School swim team. We practice every afternoon
and have at least one meet a week. Swimming is fun because
the meets are exciting, and I like to improve my times.
In the spring, the Middle School does a play, and I decided
to be in it this year. Some people act in the play and
others are on the tech crew. It is so much fun! |
