Tennis - Boys' Varsity
Pennington's tennis program dates back to the mid-nineteenth century. The tennis courts, for many of those early years, were located behind the home and garden of the Headmaster; today’s courts sit prominently on the front corner of campus at Green Street and Delaware Avenue. Consistently competitive, the program has had seasons of brilliance over the years, including a shared Prep B State Championship and singles players who have competed for state and county titles. The 2014 spring season saw Pennington’s Jerry Jiang ’15 crowned both Mercer County champion and NJISAA Prep B champion. Jiang ’15 now studies at Bowdoin College, where he has continued his tennis career. The tennis team plays a highly challenging schedule among independent and public schools in Mercer County, which is a hotbed for the sport. The School, which also offers a junior varsity tennis program, has five courts, as well as access to local indoor courts if needed.
