Pennington’s Dane Kunkel ‘13 produces concert to raise money for charity

Posted July 12, 2012

Pennington rising senior and professional disc jockey (DJ) Dane Kunkel is spending his time this summer producing an electronic dance music (EDM) concert for thousands of teens and young adults. He hopes to raise $100,000 from ticket sales for Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). Slated for September 29, 2012, at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ, the concert will kick off October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Dane is producing this concert through the non-profit business he started, BeachGlow: Concerts for Charity. Through BeachGlow he produces fundraising concerts that donate 100 percent of profits to various charities. BeachGlow, which has already generated tens of thousands of dollars in charitable donations, is a spin-off of his for-profit DJ business, GetKunked Productions, which he started in 2010 as a freshman.

In order to meet his goal of raising $100,000 for BCRF, he must first raise $25,000 in seed money to put toward production costs which include deposits on the arena, equipment rentals, and hiring security as well as signing well-known and local talent for the event, which will feature approximately eight acts in total.

On his website, Dane set up various giving levels, some with give-away items, in hopes to inspire the Pennington community to help raise money for the concert’s production so that he can hold a great EDM event, and generate a tremendous donation for BCRF.
