Scott M. Doughty, B.A.E.S., P'24
Director of College Guidance
Doughty’s relationship with Pennington spans twenty three years: first as an Associate Director of Admission for Carnegie Mellon University, where he actively recruited students from The Pennington School, and more recently as the School’s Director of College Guidance for the past eighteen years. During this time period, he has worked with approximately 1,800 seniors through the college admission process. Doughty also serves as an Administrator on Duty and as an assistant coach of the School’s varsity swim teams. A graduate of the University of Delaware, Doughty is an active member of the National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC), the New Jersey Association of College Admissions Counseling (NJACAC), and the Pennsylvania Association of College Admissions Counseling (PACAC). In addition, Doughty has visited more than 400+ colleges and universities during his tenure at Pennington.
Melanie Litzinger, B.A., M.A.
Associate Director of College Guidance
Litzinger joined The Pennington School in 2012 as the associate director of admission. Her career spans twenty three years in college admissions for both the College of William and Mary and Rutgers University and in secondary school admission for independent schools. She received her bachelor’s degree in American Studies and English from Rutgers College. She has completed graduate work at the College of William and Mary and holds a master’s degree in communications from Monmouth University. Litzinger completed her postgraduate certification in college counseling from the University of California, San Diego. In June of 2013, she spent a week at the Harvard Summer Institute on College Admissions. She is a member of the National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) and the New Jersey Association of College Admissions Counseling (NJACAC).
Elizabeth Cummings, B.A., M.S.Ed
Assistant Director of College Guidance, Edmund V. Cervone Center for Learning
Cummings joined The Pennington School in July 2019 as the assistant director of college guidance in the Edmund V. Cervone Center for Learning. Prior to joining the Pennington community, she has worked in college admissions and secondary school placement for students with learning disabilities at an independent school in New York City. Cummings received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Moravian College and holds a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University.
Jennifer S. Roberts, B.A., P'18
Assistant to College Guidance Office
Roberts was appointed administrative assistant to the College Guidance Office in August 2018. She comes to Pennington with extensive experience working with students of all ages. Her daughter, Francesca, is a member of the Pennington School Class of 2018. Roberts received a bachelor’s degree in communications from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, NJ.
