Instrumental Music Performance
Students at Pennington have the opportunity to play a variety of instruments in our three major ensembles: Upper School Orchestra, Upper School Jazz Band, and the Middle School Instrumental Ensemble. The groups regularly play for special school events, including chapel, in addition to performing at semi-annual seasonal concerts.
The Upper School Orchestra—comprised of wind, brass, percussion, keyboard, and string instruments—often performs film music and classical scores. The Upper School Jazz Band—following a traditional big-band instrumentation of saxes, brass, and rhythm section—performs popular, jazz, and rock music. The Middle School Instrumental Ensemble, which consists of all instruments, explores a broad array of musical styles, from marches to blues.
