Inclement Weather Policy
Students and Faculty
Because most faculty members and many students live on campus, the School does not always cancel classes during inclement weather.
The Pennington School realizes that a significant segment of the School population may sometimes find it hazardous to travel. The safety of our students is most important. We ask day students’ parents to use their best judgment in such circumstances. On these occasions, absences will not be charged against the student’s record. Students may, however, wish to contact a teacher via email. Students are expected to check the Schoology online course system for assignments or other instructions.
If weather causes the School to be closed, or if there is a delayed opening, a OneCall voice mail will be sent to all phone numbers provided on students’ emergency notification forms, and an announcement will be posted on the homepage of the School’s website as soon as a determination has been made.
When the School operates on a delayed opening schedule, the OneCall message and the website will give details about class starting times and where students should report upon arrival. In most cases, students will report to every class with a shortened schedule for each.
