Day and Boarding; Grades 6-12

Class of 2025

We have begun scheduling for the next academic year and need parents’ input to formulate an appropriate course of study for their child. To become more familiar with our course offerings, please review the 2022–23 Upper School Course Catalog  and the Course Selection Overview. Then, please fill out the Course Request Form for the Class of 2025 by April 29, 2022

A typical sophomore schedule in our seven-period schedule includes the five core subject areas (Math, English, World Languages, Science, and History); two required half-year courses: Religion and Ethics and Health and Wellness; and a quarter course, Public Speaking. Sophomores may elect to use the remaining period of the day for study or to request one additional half-year elective of their choosing.

You will note that in each of the core subjects there is an option to select an honors-level course. Placement in these courses is subject to department approval and a student’s performance on a placement exam. Placement exams are administered for students who request an honors-level course, advanced math course, or advanced world language course (level II and above). More information will follow after we receive and process the completed Course Request Form.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeanne Hamburg, registrar, at or 609-737-6136 to schedule a time to speak with Dean of Academic Affairs Scott Peeler. We look forward to welcoming your child to the Pennington community and providing the academic opportunities and individual attention that are the hallmarks of our School’s history.
