Nearly Two Dozen Students of Latin Earn National Distinction

Twenty-two students at The Pennington School have earned awards on the 2025 National Latin Exam. This year, the annual exam was administered to over 100,000 students from all fifty of the United States and twenty other countries. The exam tests students on Latin grammar, Roman history, Roman mythology, and Roman culture, including the reading of a passage in Latin for comprehension.

Six students received gold Summa Cum Laude awards in their respective levels of the exam: seventh-grader Arden Shi; ninth-grader Tara Raman; sophomore Charlie Lewin, juniors Ciaran Walsh and Kerri Moran; and senior Dingtong (Aimee) Zou. Seven students earned the silver Maxima Cum Laude award, including: eighth-grader Illayanila Sathieshpillai; ninth-graders Romina Hidalgo, James Chandrasaputra, and Miaoyan Peng; juniors Yanxin (Minnie) Wu and Nishka Vyas; and senior Dhruv Ramaswamy.

The Magna Cum Laude award was earned by: seventh-grader Thomas McGinnis; eighth-grader Ana Latronica; ninth-grader Jules Bourgoin; sophomore Emma Schmidt; and seniors Jinxuan (Ethan) Qi and Deethya Karthikvatsan. Three students received Cum Laude awards: sophomores Braydon Bonfig and Sasha Morgan, and junior Saskia Cooper.

These students are currently enrolled in Latin classes ranging from Latin B to AP Latin. Congratulations to all of the award recipients and Teachers of Latin William Dingee and Peter Secrest!
