Four Middle School students score high on math exam

Four Pennington School Middle School students scored very well on the recent American Mathematics Competition 8, a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice examination designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills.

Out of the thirteen Middle-Schoolers who took the test this year, sixth-grader Polaris Hayes, not only earned the top score for Pennington, but also scored in the top 1% of middle school students in the nation.

Three other high-scorers were seventh-grader Ricky Li; seventh-grader Francesca Pendus; and sixth-grader Praslin Hayes.

The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for Middle School students to develop positive attitudes toward analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment.
