Pennington soccer standouts Ellie Hawkey '20 and Jayne McGrath '20 have been selected to the United Soccer Coaches organization's Scholar All-American team.
The Scholar All-America award is one of the highest honors bestowed at the high school level and recognizes outstanding achievement on the field coupled with extraordinary academic performance.
To be nominated, the student-athlete must meet select criteria established by the United Soccer Coaches organization. Heavy emphasis is placed on maintaining a high GPA throughout their high school years and they must have demonstrated recognized excellence in high school soccer and must have performed community service at the local, regional, or national level
Hawkey, a striker, and McGrath, a defender, have been standout members of the girls' soccer program throughout their four years at Pennington. This past fall the duo helped the Red Raiders add to their state championship total by winning the program’s fifteenth NJISAA Prep A title and by picking up their eleventh Mercer County Tournament championship.
