Middle School celebrates eighth grade at graduation

The Pennington School held ceremonies at the Pennington Presbyterian Church on June 6 for 43 students graduating from its Middle School. The students represent three states and three countries outside the United States. Headmaster William S. Hawkey welcomed those in attendance, Head of Middle School Todd D. Paige and members of the faculty announced eighth-grade award-winners, and faculty advisors joined Paige in presenting the diplomas.

One student speaker was Francesca Pendus of Yardley, Pa., first in scholarship for the eighth grade. Other eighth-grade speakers offering reflections were Leanne Griffiths of Lawrenceville and Patrick Riley of Robbinsville. Riley was also recognized with the Head of Middle School Award, given to "students who are considered 'difference makers.'"

There were performances by the Middle School Instrumental Ensemble, the Middle School Singers, and the Sixth-Grade Handchimes and Handbells group.

Other eighth-grade awards presented were those for pursuit of excellence in humanities to Ahja Bates, Nikolas Chase, Zoe Eaton, Kyle Meinhart, and Amelia Stevenson; in STEM to Isabella Fermo; and in the arts to Sandeep Hastings-Kimball and Shanti Hastings-Kimball.
