Varsity boys' soccer defeats Princeton Day

Senior Stas Korzeniowski scored two first half goals to lead Pennington to a 2-0 win over Princeton Day School on Saturday, October 17.

Korzeniowski nearly scored a hat trick but was denied by a couple of big plays by the PDS defense.  Pennington's first goal came as senior Jack Borden drilled a free kick off of the underside of the crossbar and the ball fell into the path of Korzeniowski who slotted it into the net.

Pennington's second goal came as junior Lukas Gessner placed a through ball to Korzeniowski who took the ball around the goalkeeper and knocked it into the net for a 2-0 lead.

Pennington's defense was solid as goalkeeper Rafa Ponce de Leon and defenders Liam Goldstein, Elliot Overhiser, and Aidan Keith limited PDS's chances.  Midfielders Lukas Gessner, Noah Kooistra, Jack Borden, Ronan Karp, and Gabe DiPierro played well and maintained possession efficiently for Pennington.

Aiden Normand and Korzeniowski combined effectively for Pennington from their forward positions.  Ricky Porras, Elias Di Bello, Felix Shapiro, Mason Brown, and Mateo Lopez Castro all played well for Pennington.
