Two students win summer scholarships

Pennington students Feven Negussie '18 and Nicole Adabunu '17 won full summer scholarships at Indiana University and the University of Michigan, respectively, for their writing.

Negussie was selected to attend the Telluride Association Sophomore Seminar at Indiana University, "The Black Struggle for Freedom: An Interdisciplinary Perspective." She was selected from a highly competitive pool after completing a rigorous four-essay application and submitting an academic recommendation and transcript.

Adabunu was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Telluride Assocation Summer Program, "Black Lives Matter: Race, Gender, and Resistance in Pan African Cinema from Algiers to Ferguson" at the University of Michigan. Applicants to the Summer Programs are solicited from high scorers on the Educational Testing Service's PSAT.

The Telluride organization has run challenging and selective summer programs nationwide for high school students since 1954.
