Middle School holds graduation

The Pennington School held ceremonies at the Pennington Presbyterian Church on June 7 for 45 students graduating from the Middle School. Headmaster William S. Hawkey welcomed those in attendance, Head of Middle School Todd D. Paige and members of the faculty announced eighth-grade award-winners, and faculty advisors joined Paige in presenting the diplomas.

Eighth-grade speakers offering reflections were Ariana Colner, Steph Balerna, and Merrick Lui. The Middle School Singers performed, as did the Sixth-Grade Handchimes and Handbells group.

Eighth-grade awards presented were those for excellence in German to Miami Celentana, Spanish to Jonathan Eaton, and French to Kitty Evans. Gavin Cui and Johnny Santarsiero were recognized for excellence in science, and Ariana Colner won the award for mathematics. Stephanie Balerna and Jonny Eaton earned awards for excellence in social studies and Artorama, respectively, and Lucy Harding and Ruby Grisin earned awards for excellence in English. John Santarsiero received the Most Improved Award, and Kitty Evans earned the award for academic perseverance. Gavin Cui was recognized for excellence in music, Ariana Colner was awarded First in Scholarship, and Lucy Harding received the Citizenship award.
