Pennington sixth-graders celebrated both National Poetry and Library months in their Humanities class on Wednesday, April 25, with the help of our middle school librarian, Tamara Alito.
Students worked in poetry learning centers creating hands-on poems. They stacked book titles to make Spine Label Poems, arranged letters to create Magnetic Poems, and carefully crossed out words to reveal Blackout Poems. All of the poems generated will be part of a larger project--a hardbound collection of poetry written and illustrated by each student. With the license to germinate their own ideas, students blossomed a garden full of poetry in one day!
