To see the world with intense observation...

At The Pennington School, students are empowered to create a visual language through deliberate handling of mediums, skills, concepts, and context. While building technique and solving creative problems, the processes of self-expression, critical thinking, and risk taking happen! It is our job to enhance a student’s vision, creative thinking, and collaborative spirit.

In the Upper School students can jump right into a discipline they find intriguing. Interested in interpreting your world and creating illusions on paper and canvas? Then Drawing and Painting are for you! Interested in getting your hands dirty and making objects you can use in daily life? Ceramics is for you! Want to frame your world through a high tech device and create new worlds as you go? Then Photography or Video Production is for you!

Pennington students have gone on to pursue the visual arts at schools such as Pratt Institute, School for American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology, Parsons The New School for Design, the College of Ceramics at Alfred University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the School of Visual Arts, and Rhode Island School of Design.

Students interested in photo and video should visit the Lens-Based Arts page.
