Seventeen students at The Pennington School have earned awards on the 2026 National Latin Exam. This year, the annual exam was administered to over 100,000 students from all fifty of the United States and twenty-six other countries. The exam tests students on Latin grammar, Roman history, Roman mythology, and Roman culture, including the reading of a passage in Latin for comprehension.

Four students received gold summa cum laude awards in their respective levels of the exam: eighth-grader Arden Shi; ninth-graders Theresa Fox and Zimo (Vesper) Chen; and junior Harry (Haokai) Cao. Five students earned the silver maxima cum laude award, including eighth-grader Thomas McGinnis; ninth-graders Nicholas Falcone and Tianyi (Olivia) Wang; sophomore Tara Raman; and junior Emma Schmidt. The magna cum laude award was earned by sophomores Kate Saurman, Romina Hidalgo, Siyuan (Ellie) Wei, and James Chandrasaputra; and senior Nishka Vyas. Three students received cum laude awards: ninth-graders Yiqian (Phoebe) Fei and Ana Latronica; and junior Charlie Lewin.

These students are currently enrolled in Latin classes ranging from Latin B to AP Latin. Congratulations to all of the award recipients and Teachers of Latin William Dingee and Peter Secrest!
