Girls' Soccer Downs IHA

Pennington Varsity Girls’ Soccer defeated Immaculate Heart Academy 6-2 this past Saturday on Tom Liwosz Turf Field at Pearl Family Stadium.

Immaculate Heart came into the game holding down a number-seven ranking in the NJ.Com state girls’ top twenty rankings, having won all but one game this season and boasting an impressive 5-1 record prior to the weekend matchup.

The Red Hawks of Pennington were able to generate good scoring opportunities early in the game and took a 1-0 lead when Lidia Gilch ’27 sent an accurate free kick to the head of Ava Chincarini ’28; Chincarini subsequently sent the headball sailing past the goalkeeper.

Soon after, Olivia Wang ’28 delivered a perfect pass to Bri Turner ’26 and Turner curled a beautiful shot past the goalkeeper. Riley Conboy ’28 scored an unassisted goal to give Pennington a 3-0 lead.

Gilch scored on a direct free kick to send the Red Hawks into the halftime break with a 4-1 lead.

Kicking off the second half, Gilch scored with a penalty kick goal following a foul on Chincarini. Sara Chrnelich ’26 took a pass from her sister Sophia Chrnelich ’29 to put the Red Hawks up 6-2 and that is how this one finished.

Pennington will face Hill School on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on Tom Liwosz Field at Pearl Family Stadium.
