Girls' Swimming Takes Second Place In NJISAA Prep B States

Congratulations to the girls’ swim team on their second-place finish at States yesterday! Many personal-best times resulted from a gutsy overall effort.

Highlights included Hania Jernigan ’28, who set a new school record in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:06.17. Hania took first place overall (across both Prep A and Prep B) and earned All-State honors with her top-spot finish.

Brooke Flannery ’28 took second place overall in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.77.

The girls’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Hania Jernigan ’28, Brooke Flannery ’28, Charlotte Henderson ’29, and Charlotte Koveloski ’28 finished third overall (Prep A and B). Koveloski. ’28 also placed second (Prep A and B) in the 200-yard freestyle.

Team members include: Emily Birkenstock ’26, Poppy Brown ’27, Adela Cermakola ’27, Lina Cortes ’26, Addie Davis ’29, Brooke Flannery, Vanessa Goj ’27, Emma Goodrich ’26, Charlotte Henderson ’26, Charlotte Hendrickson ’29, Hania Jernigan, Charlotte Koveloski, Norah Mehta ’26, Eerah Murumkar ’28, and Malea Reilly ’26.

This season's team captains were Lina Cortes, Emma Goodrich, and Maleh Reilly.

Coaches George Ward ’88, Scott Doughty, and Lynn Shields are immensely proud of the hard work the girls put into preparing for States and for the many personal-best performances achieved. The coaches also express their thanks to team managers Saniya Bhanote ’26, Lillian Chiaravalloti ’27, Raquel Frankel ’26, and Bella Murray ’27.
