Pennington Football Tops Germantown Academy

Pennington played a tough game against a physical and disciplined Germantown Academy team that did not quit, but the Red Hawks were able to capitalize on the final play of the game to emerge victorious.

Pennington was led by the play of ninth-grade phenom Bam Pelzer, who had eleven tackles and four sacks on defense. Pelzer was also helped on defense by junior Noah Johnson, playing his first game at linebacker. Johnson finished the game with nine tackles and one sack. Senior Bryce Werner built on a solid week of practice with a touchdown-saving interception.

The Red Hawks used up valuable minutes with a punishing rushing offense that yielded 241 yards. The dynamic duo of Tahmere Brown '28 and Tommy Surtz '26 ran for 91 and 71 yards, respectively. Junior quarterback Cannon Benzio chipped in with 78 yards of timely scrambling and made two critical third down conversions. Junior Ian Walker contributed by covering a fumble late in the game that saved momentum and a probable return touchdown.
