It was an early morning for Pennington’s college-bound athletes, as nearly twenty seniors shared breakfast this morning with coaches, teammates, and family members in celebration of their intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. 

In December, the Athletics department held a National Letter of Intent ceremony for nearly a dozen athletes who had already committed to DI and DII colleges and universities for the fall of 2026. At today’s Breakfast for College Bound Athletes, those same eleven students were joined by eight other athletes who are continuing their play at DIII schools.  

Pennington has long been known as a soccer powerhouse, so it was not surprising that eight Red Hawks intend to continue that sport in college. Sara Chrnelich (Georgetown University) and Elizabeth Holstein (Binghamton University) will play at the DI level, and Ava Brochon (Thomas Jefferson University), and Nora Close (Flagler College) will play women’s soccer at the DII level. Additionally, Emma Normand (Union College) and Alexandra Van Arsdale (Washington and Lee University) will continue at the DIII level.

On the men’s soccer side, two athletes are headed to DIII schools to continue their soccer careers: Colin Harkleroad(Dickinson College) and Kyle Harvey (Drew University.) 

Basketball and baseball were both represented at the breakfast as well, with Kai Itakura Prepscius moving on to play DIII baseball (Stevens Institute of Technology) and Dylan Napoleon planning to play basketball at the DIII level (Drew University.)

Four young men will be playing DI football next year: AJ Cartusciello (Wagner College), Nisaiah Maldonado (Bryant University), Bryce Werner (Lehigh University), and Bryce Williams (SUNY University at Buffalo). 

Several seniors will also continue rowing in the fall: Lolita Nechay (St. Mary’s College of California), Becket Washburn (St. Joseph’s University), and Sebastian Calderon Chubb (UC San Diego) will all row at the DI level.

Rounding out the talented group of student athletes acknowledged on Tuesday morning were field hockey player Geneviève Vallières (University of Louisville, DI), and lacrosse player Norah Youngblood (Oberlin College, DII).
