The Pennington School was delighted to welcome over 150 grandparents to campus on March 7, 2025, for our annual Grandparents Day celebration! This cherished tradition offers grandparents a special opportunity to experience a day in the life of their grandchildren while connecting with their fellow Pennington grandparents.
The day began with a warm welcome and breakfast, where grandparents and grandchildren enjoyed quality time together before setting off to explore campus. Middle School visitors stepped into classrooms to experience Pennington’s dynamic learning environment firsthand, while Upper School guests joined student-led campus tours. Faculty members Len Leib, Ken Coakley, and Lida Castro led a “class sampler” for grandparents with engaging presentations on mathematics, computer science, AI, global studies, and experiential learning programs. Additionally, Director of College Counseling Adam Materasso and Director of Alumni Relations Jane Bott Childrey ’89 showcased alumni achievements, the power of our alumni network, and the lasting impact of a Pennington education.
The day concluded with remarks from Head of School Dr. William S. Hawkey, who spoke about Pennington’s ongoing commitment to excellence and the meaningful role of family connections in our community—especially in light of this year’s School theme, The Power of Connections.
Grandparents Day remains a beloved tradition, strengthening the bonds between generations and celebrating the lasting impact of a Pennington education. Thanks to everyone who joined us on campus for this special event; view all the photos from the day here.
