For more than twenty years, the Horizon program has been a cornerstone of The Pennington School curriculum. Rooted in our core mission to develop individual excellence, this transformative two-week program challenges seniors to step away from traditional coursework and dedicate 25 to 30 hours a week to independent, real-world exploration.

But Horizon is not just a capstone event at the end of May; it is the culmination of a year-long journey. Throughout their senior year, students learn and practice essential professional and personal skills essential for their future. This foundation empowers them to identify their passions, build their network and connections, and completely shape their own Horizon Experience—whether by crafting a project centered on a personal passion, diving into a career-focused internship, navigating a travel experience, or pursuing a rigorous academic interest.

The Class of 2026 pushed boundaries across every imaginable discipline, completing meaningful personal experiences in myriad fields and disciplines. Many students participated in shadowing experiences, such as neurosurgery in San Juan’s Auxilio Mutuo Hospital, law at the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, R&D at Neutrogena skin care, wealth management at Merrill Lynch, veterinary medicine at Belle Meade Animal Hospital, and sports administration at Princeton University Athletics, while others completed research projects in both archival and AI video production, criminal justice, sales, global advertising, data collection, and more. 

The sheer diversity of paths traveled this year illustrates the multi-faceted talents of the senior class. All that talent was on display just three days before graduation, as the senior class shared presentations of their projects first with members of the junior class, and then later in the day with families and faculty members at the Horizon Presentation Showcase. These carefully planned Horizon projects prove that when given the autonomy to shape their own learning, our students choose meaningful work driven by passion and a commitment to pursuing personal excellence.
