Since his graduation from Pennington in 2011, actor, singer, and songwriter Michael Lee Brown has certainly kept busy. A Marymount Manhattan graduate, Brown recently returned to his roots, holding a workshop on campus for Pennington theatre students earlier this month.
Acting fundamentals and musical audition preparation were the main focus areas of Brown’s interactive and informative class. Through discussion and the exploration of "ambiguous" scenes, students considered the thoughts, emotions, and actions of the characters in their audition songs. A few students even had the opportunity to sing for Brown, who provided direct feedback on how to make their auditions even stronger.
Brown has starred on Broadway in Dear Evan Hansen and has appeared in several television series, including Prodigal Son and Happyish. The performer also recently released his solo EP entitled, Way it Used to Be. Both students and faculty were delighted to welcome Brown back to campus and grateful for his professional insights.
