Launching a Successful Start at Pennington

Ushering in the new academic year, students in Grades 6 through 8 were welcomed back to campus by the School’s Junior Proctors on Tuesday morning. This annual, two-day orientation program—affectionately known as Launch—pairs Middle School students with select juniors chosen for their leadership qualities and interest in working with younger grades; their special relationship forms the bridge between the Middle and Upper schools.

This year's Launch began with an enthusiastic cheering section on hand to celebrate each student's arrival. Both returning and new Middle Schoolers were then sorted into different groups identified by brightly colored bandanas. Activities included outdoor games, icebreakers, crafts, campus tours, and swimming, with plenty of opportunities for students to make connections with faculty and new friends. Popsicles at pickup help ensure that the day ended as sweetly as it began!

As Head of Middle School Maria Capelle-Burny stated, “We have officially LAUNCHED the 2025-2026 school year! From start to finish, seeing our students (re)unite and engage in activities all over campus with our Junior Proctors was inspirational to witness. Here's to a great year, everyone!”
