Pennington Sophomore Now Award-Winning Playwright

Sophomore Saskia C. was among a small group of student playwrights who were celebrated this past weekend by the Phillips’ Mill Community Association’s (PMCA) "Play with Words" competition. The sold-out event featured the six competition winners, who performed staged readings of their own work on the Mill’s stage. Saskia’s original piece, entitled “The Calamity Crew,” is a play about pirates who lack self-confidence. On hand to celebrate Saskia’s success were two of her teachers, Mark Reilly and Kate Kehoe.

The PMCA’s mission is “to promote the arts and preserve the artistic and cultural heritage of Bucks County,” and in keeping with those goals, the Phillips' Mill Drama Committee established this juried one-act playwriting challenge for students in grades 7 to 12. In addition to having their work shared in front of a live audience and receiving constructive commentary written by the jurists, the winners each received a $100.00 cash prize. Congratulations, Saskia!
