Pennington’s Red Hawks soared this past spring, with numerous team titles and individual accomplishments spread across various sports on both the girls’ and boys’ sides.

Varsity Boys’ Baseball had a blistering season, racking up an impressive array of individual accolades to go hand-in-hand with the team’s winning season. They were the 2026 NJISAA Prep B Baseball All State Champions, finishing second in the MAPL league. 

Three players were chosen to represent Mercer County in the 2026 Carpenter Cup: juniors Caden Burns ’27 and Ryan Richer ’27 and ninth-grader Chase Hallett ’29. The Carpenter Cup is hosted by the Philadelphia Phillies and features top high school athletes—primarily rising juniors and seniors—from various regional and state leagues, competing directly in front of college and Major League scouts. 

Additionally, Richer was chosen for the NJISAA Prep B First Team as well as the All-MAPL Team. The Trentonian also named Richer to their All-Area First Team, their All-Prep First Team, and selected him as their All-Prep Baseball Player of the Year. Hallett was also named to the NJISAA Prep B First Team, the All-MAPL Team, and both the All-Area Second Team and the All-Prep First Team for The Trentonian. Another pitcher named to The Trentonian’s All-Area Second Team and the All-Prep First Team was Burns.

Seniors Kai Itakura-Prepscius ’26 and Braeden Leeds ’26 closed out their time at Pennington with regional honors: Itakura-Prepscius to the NJISAA Prep B First Team, All-MAPL Honorable Mention, The Trentonian’s All-Area First Team and All-Prep First Team; and Leeds to both of The Trentonian’s First Teams: All-Area and All-Prep.

Two more players—both freshman—were named to various all-star rosters: Cayden Meccage ’29 to the All-MAPL Team as well as The Trentonian’s All-Area Second Team and All-Prep First Team; Meccage also received a NJISAA Prep B Honorable Mention. London Rauls ’29 was named to the NJISAA Prep B First Team, and two of The Trentonian’s teams: All-Area Second Team and All-Prep First Team.

Also receiving post season honors were Jaxson Burns ’29, Jamir Conover ’28, Logan Oster ’26, Bam Pelzer ’29, and Shane Sammons ’29, who all received All-Prep Honorable Mentions from The Trentonian. Finally, the Varsity Boys’ Baseball coaching staff, under the leadership of Head Coach Steve Kowlaski, recorded their 100th collective win this year.

Over on the lacrosse field, Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse mounted an impressive season of their own, making it to the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Prep All State Tournament. Senior Finn Garner was named First Team for NJISAA Prep All State, All MAPL league, and The Trentonian’s All Prep. In his final season, Garner became Pennington’s all time Boys’ Lacrosse points leader (215), making him only the second Red Hawk in history to pass the 200 point mark.

Two other senior lacrosse players earned accolades this year: Jono Partridge received Honorable Mentions from both the NJISAA Prep All State and The Trentonian’s All Prep; and George Ward Jr. received an All MAPL Honorable Mention. 

On the girls’ side, junior Sara Surtz ’27 was named to the Girls’ Lacrosse All MAPL First Team in the same season she reached her 100th career goal. Senior Captain Evie Argiropoulous also celebrated her 100th career goal this season, and defender Lillian Chiaravalloti ’27 recorded her 100th career save. Finally, Allie Vannozzi ’29 received an Honorable Mention this year from the MAPL league.

Also earning All MAPL First Team honors were junior Logan Hyndman ’27, for golf, and senior Rishabh Ramaswamy ’26, for tennis. Ramaswamy also placed third in this year’s MAPL Tennis Tournament and the Boys’ Golf Team finished in second place in the NJISAA Prep B Tournament.

Meanwhile, on the track, there were a few individual sophomore standouts on both the boys’ and girls’ teams: at the Prep B state championship, Matt Shapiro placed first in long jump and Christopher Freeland placed second in the 3200m. Freeland also placed second in the 3200m at the MAPL Championship meet, earning a personal best that day. At the same MAPL Championship meet held at Blair, Eden Ashiavor ’28 placed first in the shot put and third in the discus.
