Pennington's boys' and girls' track teams both came in fourth place overall at the NJISAA Prep B Track Championships held at Newark Academy on Monday, May 23.

The girls' team was running a strong second overall for a large part of the meet due to several strong finishes, however, they ran out of steam as they were up against teams with larger numbers.  All in all, it was an impressive performance for the girls' team.

Makenna Urbanek took first in both the 100m and 200m races. Urbanek was also a part of Pennington's winning 4x100m relay that included Naomi Craig, Macayla Rodriguez, and Julia Klukowski. This relay team broke their own School record (set at Penn Relays earlier in May) with a 51.20.

Macayla Rodriguez picked up big points for the girls' team as she finished second in the 100m and 200m races, and was part of the record setting 4x100m relay team.

The girls put up an impressive fourteen personal bests performances at the State meet.

Pennington's boys' team also finished fourth overall and set twelve personal best times during the day's events.  Drayton Kolaras reset his school record in the 800m with a time of 1:57.22.

The Red Hawks 4x400m relay team of Xavier Blake, Tyler Hope, Zack Tomlinson, and Chris Xia took a close second.

The Red Hawks have one final event on their calendars, and that takes place over the Memorial Day Weekend when they compete in the Mercer County Championships to be held on Friday and Saturday at Robbinsville High School.
